CCTV and Number Plate Recognition

1. Where cameras operate. CCTV operates in the exhibition halls, at the entrance, in the cloakroom and in the underground car park. Monitored zones are marked with signs at the entrance to each area. There is no monitoring in toilets, baby-changing rooms or staff areas.

2. Why. To protect the exhibits, to keep visitors safe and to manage car park entry. Recordings are used only for these purposes.

3. Number plate recognition. A number plate recognition system operates at the entrance and exit of the underground car park. It records the plate, date and time; the data is used to calculate parking charges and to grant the free first hour.

4. Retention. Hall recordings are kept for thirty days and then deleted automatically. Number plate data is kept for ninety days under parking accounting rules.

5. Who has access. A limited group of security staff has access to the archive. Every access is logged with the staff member, the time and the reason.

6. Disclosure. Recordings are disclosed to third parties only on a reasoned request from law enforcement, in the manner prescribed by law.

7. Your rights. You may ask whether a recording was made of you and receive a copy where this does not infringe the rights of others. Send requests to privacy@aerospace-museum.local, stating the date, time and place.
